We all like to see a bit or carnage now and again right?... So heres some pictures and short accounts of peoples cock-ups, stacks and breakages.

 "Nath took a dive on some tripples..."

"These are my knees after one of the scariest crashes ever. I was coming round the first corner of my local BMX track, went to take the triple in one go. Landed slightly short and the rest they say is history. I woke up in Leighton hospital, people staring over me was wonderful. Then came the distressing part I kept passing out, just for a few seconds at a time but apparently this wasn’t normal. So they kept me in over the weekend then on Saturday it all stopped. They kept me in till Monday then I went home. All I have to show for this adventure is fecked up knees and a pounding headache. Oh and to rub salt into the wounds, I was racing, I was in the finals and winning. Oh and kids, always wear protection" - Nath

 "Ellis finds out what ankle supports are for..."

On the forum Ellis told us that he'd "fell off doing a table top and broke [his] ankle lol (which kinda hurt a bit)"
A few days later he told us it'd all turned out to be rather more serious:

"I went in 2 hospital on Monday 2 get a cast and I had 2 be admitted 2 hospital and have a major operation on it and stay in hospital and now my foot has metal plates and wires in it holding it together because the hospital didn’t realise how bad it really was it turns out i have shattered 4 bones in 2 about 20 pieces which hurts!"

 Ali.. can't think of a caption that doesn't mention the 'Stains Massive'

"As if stream woods couldn't get any worse! Every time i go down there i get a puncture! But this time when i got down there i already had a slow puncture! but that wasn't gonna stop me! I tried clearing the 7-8 foot tabletop from the wrong way... Instead of going all the way round the bmx track i thought i'd just get a big run up from the opposite way! As i flew through the air i was doing a table top x-up, and thats pretty much how i landed! I flew about 4-5 foot across the floor on gravel and glass... nice! My arm looked disgusting as the skin was peeling off! When we cleared my knee up you could see the insides of it! Want my suggestion... Dont go to stream woods!" - Ali Parnell

 "Once you pop, you can't stop..."

Here's London rider Jim testing out the flexibility (N.B "Pringleability") of his new wheel.. Rob Cole, Jim's mate who submitted these pics says "watch out for the small doubles at Spaniards Wood, they will kill 'ya!" For y'all non-londoners, Spaniards wood (actually called Sandy Heath I think) is part of Hampstead Heath, a huge conservation type park-area in London. Check out the 3rd photo. Rob says "beating it on the poor tree won't help".

 "Tom Gethin re-models his arm.."

"I took some pics of a mate of mine Tom Gethin on some jump in Randwick woods near Stroud. He over jumped this table top completely missing the landing transition by 5-10 foot and nose-dived (the tabletop jump takeoff & landing are just about appear on the photo; The point at which he landed is way-off though) The result was a broken, chipped & dislocated elbow that required a bit of rod & wire work to repair (should be fun at airport metal detectors)" - John Lord

 "Prat on a hot tin roof"

This isn't a 'Stack' as such.. and it was before the whole MTB dirtjump thing went big (97?) and I was still riding to work everyday on a really really light 16" Easton Elite MTB with stupidly light components..
On one occasion I was Riding along the docks in Bristol heading towards the Industrial Museum and approaching a converted tool-shed called 'The Buttery' where morning dog-walkers, builders and business folk were sat outside eating Bacon butties and coffee.
All along the dock-side are sunken tracks (think tram) used by an old steam loco which still chugs along full of school-trippers and northern grannies fresh from their Wallace Arnold coaches. Having ridden this way for 2 years and ‘knowing’ it well I used to hop over the tracks if pedestrians were in the way and often ride the waters edge hopping over the mooring pillars and ropes.
Anyway, on this day there had been a slight drizzle and the tracks were slippery; again I was used to this and proceeded as usual, weavin in and out until I came to a section where you can either take the safe route, or get a buzz by riding for about 20 meters on a 1 meter wide strip between waters edge and train track. Some dude was walking to work and was in my way so I rather sneakily sprinted past him and hopped over some tracks intending to land on this narrow ‘strip’
What ACTUALLY happened was that I landed ON another rail and being wet the front wheel slid violently to the right. Ok, so I put my foot down as you do but there was nothing there. "Ah yes.." I thought, "the Docks". Both Bike and I fell over the edge... Luckily some very thoughtful Seaman had thought to moor his river boat, complete with peaked roof and flower pots directly under the point I exited dry land. I landed with a BIG thud and quite a bit of pain after falling about 6 foot sideways onto the tin covered roof but was very relieved not to have gotten wet. It seemed like I was laying there for several seconds before my bike and I started to slide sideways off the roof. I managed to grab onto the roofs ‘peak’ and caught my bike on my foot just as the back wheel dunked into the water.
After the dude that had been in my way stopped laughing and several ‘buttery regulars’ came to investigate, I was helped up the gang plank and re-introduced to terra firma.

To this day I have no idea what the inhabitants of the river boat thought had happened. They stayed put inside their floating home, probably thinking that Godzilla Pigeon from Hell had landed on there roof. Oh and one other thing. If the boat owners ever get to read this: "I’m really really sorry my Odyssey pedal made a hole in your Tin Roof.. Honest!" - Hutch

 "Artistic Gorse?"

"hi,
this is from last summer when i was messing around (stupidly without pads which i invested in after this incident) on a new DH/singletrack/ramble path with me mate Rory, we got to a really steep bit and Rory decided to stop and i was quite close to him and skidded up his botty, as i hit him i sort of flipped forwards and sideways into a gorse bush which must have been at its peak of ripness as it was very sharp-as you can see from the picture! at the bottom of me leg at the really red bit the gorse bush decided to do some cross hatching!
cheers, julian"

 'Stack Engineering Dynamics'

Here's local technician Ross demonstating a bit or engineering physics. If you land at 90° to the direction of travel you DO stack.The equation looks something like this:

     S = v * (h+r)/L

S = Stack Magnitude (pain), v = Velocity (m/s), h = Height (mm)
r = Angle of rotation away from center, L = Luck (fl/oz)

 'Traditional Over the bars Styleeee'

This is Potters Bar Local, Jamie caught on film by mate Ross. Taken at Sherrads Wood in Welwyn, Hertfordshire.

Jamie and Ross are both regular posters in the FORUM, so go on.. have a dig :)
